TWO SOULS,

There’s something about getting married on the Italian coast that makes you want to slow everything down. And honestly, that’s exactly the point. An Italian Coast destination wedding can be beautiful and elevated without feeling like you’re being shuffled from one photo op to the next. This session in Cefalù, Sicily is such a good example of that balance. Dramatic rocky coastline, clear blue water, overflowing florals, fresh lemons. And an effortlessly European feel, while still leaving room to actually be present and enjoy where you are.

Your Italian Coast Destination Wedding Can Be Luxury and an Experience

I think there’s this idea that you have to choose between having an elevated, beautifully designed wedding and having a day that feels relaxed and true to you. You really don’t. Some of my favorite destination weddings are the ones where every detail feels intentional, but the couple still has time to wander, take in the view, sit down for dinner, and actually experience the place they traveled all this way for.

That’s what I love so much about a setting like Cefalù. The landscape already does so much,  the textured cliffs, Mediterranean water, stone pathways, and warm tones give you this incredible backdrop without needing to overdo anything. Add thoughtful details like organic florals and citrus, and the whole thing can feel luxurious while still fitting naturally into the surroundings.

Build a Destination Wedding Timeline That Lets You Slow Down

One of the biggest ways to create that experience is actually pretty simple. Give yourself more time than you think you need. I always recommend adding around 10–15 minutes of transition time between activities. Walking from one location to another, gathering everyone together, touching up before dinner, those little transitions take time, especially during a destination wedding.

More importantly, decide what you actually want to experience before you start filling in your timeline. Maybe you want a long dinner overlooking the water, time alone together after your ceremony, or an hour to explore the coastline for portraits without constantly checking the clock. Start with those priorities and build everything else around them. Your wedding shouldn’t feel like a list of things you successfully completed by the end of the night!

Hire Vendors Who Understand the Italian Coast Destination Wedding Experience

The people you hire have such a huge impact on how your wedding day feels. For a destination wedding especially, you want vendors who understand timelines, transitions, locations, and how to keep things moving without making you feel like you’re constantly being moved along.

A good vendor team can create space for both sides of the experience, the beautiful design and details you’ve spent months planning and the spontaneous moments you couldn’t have planned if you tried. When everyone understands the bigger picture, there’s room to slow down, take in the coast, laugh together, wander somewhere beautiful for photos, and be fully present. That, to me, is what makes a destination wedding feel truly luxurious.
